About the Author
Dr. Keramas has 22-years experience as a professor in Engineering Technology coupled with over 20-years or industrial practice as a project leader, director of research, inventor, consultant and entrepreneur. He has taught previously at the University of Massachusetts and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The author of many technical journalistic articles and two texts, he is also a review board member for the Journal of Industrial Technology. In addition, he has given numerous presentations worldwide on automated manufacturing, robotics and the utilization of high technology. Dr. Keramas holds 23 patents in the United States (U.S.) and Canada for inventions in the automated manufacturing field and is an expert product liability witness listed in the Harvard Lawyer's Trial book. He is a regular consultant for the Office of Technology Innovations of the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and has provided consulting services to companies in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Keramas is an advisory committee member for the Pan European Network, creating joint education and industry alliances for technology transfer and training, and a member of the Ed/Tech Group of MIT's Lincoln Laboratory, working on curriculum development for the High Tech Workforce of Tomorrow. Dr. Keramas received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Athens Polytechnic Institute in Athens, Greece, and his Doctorate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His research interest is in Automated Manufacturing, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, CAD/CAM, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing.

different perspectives

I really like the space for notes here. While every Aspie is different, when you read the cartoons it helps you think of something relateable. Some struggle more with pragmatic language, others noises, temperature, smell, etc. I think it's also good for NTS to see there are others out there who think in similar patterns to how their Aspie thinks without having to read a large and involved book.

A very clever book presented in comic book format to help bridge the gap between those with Aspergers Syndrome and NT (neurotypicals), which is those who don't have Aspergers.

The book takes different life scenarios and gives an insight into what the person with Aspergers is feeling/thinking in those scenarios and what the NT person is feeling/thinking. It's a very easy way to start to understand the way someone with Aspergers views and interacts with the world around them.

I've read a lot of books on Aspergers and have Aspergers myself, many books are too wordy and complex for the average person to digest. This is very different, anyone could read this book and enjoy it too.

Alis Rowe has done an exceptional job in sharing information about life with Aspergers in a no-fuss easy to comprehend format. An exceptional book to read and share, I like the pages in it for the readers own notes and thoughts also. I could see this book used well in a lot if different settings.

5 stars for it's originality, format and accurate messages inside.

Clear, helpful, beautiful, easy to understand and accurate

I recommend EVERY one of Alis Rowe's books. She has a gift for taking complicated subject matter and making it very clear, easy to understand, visually beautiful and very pleasant. Her explanations are totally accurate and very exciting.

Her books about Asperger's Syndrome are very important and very accurate. They explain clearly and easily the differences between Asperger's Syndrome people and people who do not have Asperger's. If you know and or love an Aspie, these books are required reading. If you don't personally know anyone with AS but are curious and open-minded, these books will be a great help to you and will expand your mind and allow you to be much more aware of the differences in other people.

Too bad there aren't 10 stars to give here! I want to give every one of Alis' books to everyone I know.

A wonderful heartwarming inspiring story

A Double Shot Of Happiness is the most inspiring story of the extroardinary love of a mother & her super talented artist son who has autism. From being told he would never speak, never do anything & never love her because he was autistic, she defied the so called specialists & through her enormous love for her son, Tim, & a will that brought her through enormous trials, he is now a world famous artist & a beautiful young man.
I loved reading this book more than any I've read. I reccomend it to anyone who loves a good book.

A remarkable book written with honesty about living with someone with a disability. Judy shows resilience as as single mum looking after two boys and their journey to manhood. The book focuses mostly on Tim and his artwork shines in this story. Highly recommended.

This book gives everyone a double shot of happiness

A heartwarming book about a mother's unwavering belief in her autistic son. Against the odds of a judgmental and unhelpful system, Tim's mother never gives up on him and one day his amazing artistic ability comes to light. Then Tim introduces the character of Laser Beak Man and all sorts of opportunities open up but only if the resources can be found to take advantage of them. The story is told warmly and without self pity. An inspirational read from the first page to the last.
